Principal's Post 9/25/2015

On-Time, Regular Attendance is a Must!

Tardies:  The beginning of the school day sets the tone for optimal learning conditions throughout the day.  Every day, we have 20+ students arriving after the 8:00 bell.  This puts them at a distinct disadvantage, often causing them to miss important skill review, the agenda for the day, and/or other routines in place to set the tone for a great day of learning.  Please make every effort to help your child be on time to school every day.  If they are arriving after the bell, an adult must sign them in at the office.

Absences:  Families choose to take their children out of school for a variety of reasons.  While many such absences may have educational value, it is important to note that much of what takes place in the classroom cannot be duplicated or replaced, and children’s learning is compromised when they are absent.  Please make every effort to ensure that your child is in school, including on ½ days or shortened weeks.

Volunteers

We greatly appreciate the support of volunteers at our school!  Below is a summary of our district guidelines related to volunteers:

Parents/guardians of students may volunteer, as needed by the teacher, without any formal approval or background checks.

Other family members are welcome to VISIT periodically by just signing in as a visitor in the office.  This might be to attend a special event or program.  It might be to assist in the classroom, and is always under the direct supervision of a teacher.

Besides parents/guardians, any other individual (community member, college student, other family member, etc.) who wishes to VOLUNTEER must complete an application and have a background check.  VOLUNTEERS are people who come on a regular basis to work directly with students.  They might do this in the classroom; they might also take small groups out of the classroom to work in the hallway, at a picnic table, etc.  Volunteer applications are available on the district website (Click on Human Resources tab, then Employment Opportunities, then Volunteer Info).

Our policy is strictly for the protection of our students, and is in accordance with state statute and the Arizona Department of Public Safety.

If you have any questions, please contact the school office.

Thank you to ALL of our volunteers!
