We have had an outstanding start to the 2016-17 school year! I’d like to extend a warm welcome to our new Manzanita families, and a fond “hello again” to our returning families! As I recently shared in our first FFO meeting of the year, our families are a huge part of what makes our school community unique, and we are grateful for each and every one of you!
Most grade levels
have hosted their Back-to-School Nights already (1st grade
and Multiage is coming up on September 7), where I know that you
received a lot of information about the school year. Please spread
the word to your friends to subscribe to our ManzanitaMessenger blog to stay up-to-date on all things Manzanita!
Thank you for your
cooperation in making our morning and afternoon traffic at drop off
and pick up times manageable! Due to the large number of families
choosing to park at La Encantada and walk, the number of students
arriving late tardies has been dramatically reduced from last year.
A couple of notes to further improve this aspect of our school:
-
Please note that Wednesday mornings are Late Start mornings at Orange Grove Middle School. Because of this, the traffic is considerably heavier, and we have A LOT more late arrivals than on any other day. Please adjust your schedules accordingly on Wednesday mornings.
-
When waiting for pick up in the afternoons, please roll down your windows and turn your engines off. According to a study published recently in “Environmental Science: Processes & Impacts,” pollution levels inside cars at red lights or in traffic jams are up to 40 percent higher than when traffic is moving. Not only do idling engines create unhealthy air that our students breathe at pick up time, they’re not healthy for people inside the cars. Thank you for your cooperation!
We look forward to
partnering with you for a successful school year!
