As you know, conferences
are scheduled for next week. As a result, students will be dismissed at 11:30
Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Half-day morning kindergarten dismisses at 9:30.
No lunch will be served. Thursday and Friday is our scheduled Fall Break.
What can you do to
help ensure that your child’s conference is a successful experience?
• During the conference time, please focus in on your child and his/her work.
•
Please arrive on time. Children and teachers have prepared work to share with
you. Teachers try to remain on schedule, but appreciate your patience if they
are running slightly behind.
•
Please remain within your scheduled time. Conferences are scheduled in a
back-to-back
fashion. If you would like to speak with the teacher alone, or you have other
topics that are not covered within the designated conference time, please make
an appointment for an additional meeting at a later date.
Mustang Round-Up
This coming Tuesday, October 14, we will hold our very first
school wide assembly of the year, The
Mustang Round-Up. The purpose of this all school get-together is to build
community and to celebrate many of the great things happening at our site.
Site Council
The Manzanita School
Council was established in 1995 to develop an ongoing partnership between the
school and the community. We are dedicated to improving the quality of
educational experiences at our campus. Each year, the council explores and
investigates academic and social topics that are of interest to the school
community, and aligned with the district’s strategic plan. In the past, such issues as improved
school safety and security, math, spelling, modified school calendar, drug
prevention awareness for parents and intermediate students, the creation of a
school compact, the coordination of a community-wide school beautification day
and opportunities for families to be involved in science and arts experiences,
have been the focus of the group’s efforts.
The Council is comprised of 10 members: three
parents, three certified staff, one classified staff member, one community
member and the principal. This year, we will welcome a couple of new members.
Members must commit to attend four to six meetings; dates and times shall be
determined by the membership.
If you have an interest in joining, please
complete the application attached to this newsletter. The information requested
is designed to formulate a Council that is representative of the school
community. The application is due
in the office no later than Wednesday, October 22.
If you have questions, please contact Mrs.
Nichols at 209-7800 or via e-mail.
Have a lovely Fall Break!
