Manzanita
Families,
I am
happy to be back at school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you,
the Manzanita community, for the lovely cards, sentiments, and flowers. Your
generosity and support is greatly appreciated at this difficult time. I would
like to thank Mrs. Kenman, and the entire staff for all of the extra effort
they put forth in my absence.
A
variety of important events are coming up in the very near future. Fall conferences are scheduled for three afternoons, October 13, 14,
and 15. We will continue with our
on-line scheduling option. This year, you will notice that all teachers are
listed on the website, therefore easing the ability to schedule. The link for fall conferences is: http://ptcfast.com/schools/Manzanita_Elementary_School_2
The link will be active
as of Wednesday, October 1. If you do not have Internet access or prefer to
sign up in another fashion, please contact your child’s teacher for directions.
For
fall conferences, students in grades 1-5 are typically included, providing
them
with the opportunity to review their progress to date with their teachers and
parents.
Each
class and grade level may have devised individual plans. For example, on the
first day of conferences, Monday, October 13, fifth grade classes will host an
open house, at which students will share some of their work. Fourth grade will
host theirs on Friday, October 11 from 12:00-1:00.
Historically,
kindergartners are not included in fall conferences as the teachers have quite
a bit of information to review with parents in a short period of time. However,
your kindergarten teacher will let you know if you should expect to bring your
child to the conference. We hope that every parent will invest the time to
participate in this important aspect of your child’s education.
Coming
right up: 5th grade Science Camp
in Payson, October 8-10. Parents please look for permission slips in the next
day or so; fill out and return immediately. Students are looking forward to
this memorable learning experience!
Fall Break is October 16th and 17th.
We hope you enjoy the long weekend!
Thank
you for your continued interest in the school and your involvement in your
child's education.
